Fargesia robusta

Other names: "Robusta"

Statistics: Height: ~15 feet Diameter: ¾ inch

Robusta is one of the most popular clumping bamboos. It has an attractive upright habit—a form far superior to most other clumpers—hence it is the only clumper we currently sell. It stands tall unless covered with snow or ice. Its young culms are a lovely green with culm sheaths that dry to white and remain attached for some weeks. Robusta shoots twice a year which is very unusual, in early spring and mid summer. The shoots are reddish and fuzzy.

Robusta is taller and more upright than most other clumping bamboos.	The shoots come up around March and are numerous.	The rhizome structure of clumpers is like an ornamental grass--no long runners.
